Our Ethos
Five generations of Hills have farmed at Edingley and Halam since the late 1800s. Our suckler herd of pedigree shorthorn cattle are purely fed on pasture grown on the farm. We are members of the Beef Shorthorn Society. Located within the village is the Pop Up at Hill’s, our family farm shop. We sell our home-reared pasture fed beef, local and home grown fruit and veg, seasonal produce, homemade cakes, scones, sausage rolls and hot drinks. A much recommended visit!
Our farm ethos is based on sustainability, reducing our carbon footprint and enhancing the environment in which we live and work. As part of a High Level Stewardship scheme, we have planted new hedgerows, replaced historic orchards, introduced wild-flower meadows and opened a permissive access route across the farm.
In line with the family ethos, Carver’s Rest is sustainably heated using ground source heat and has a natural water source pumped from the surrounding hillside.
